Car Lift Buying Guide

Car Lift Buying Guide

Everything you need to know to buy a car lift with confidence.

1. Determine Your Needs

  • Service vs Storage: Service lifts are for working on vehicles. Storage lifts are for parking.
  • Vehicle weight: Check your heaviest vehicle weight and add 20% margin.
  • Ceiling height: Measure your garage ceiling. Most 2-post lifts need 11-12 feet.
  • Slab thickness: Concrete must be at least 4 inches thick with 3000 PSI.
  • Available power: Most lifts need 220V. Some models available in 110V.

2. Choose the Right Type

  • 2-Post Lifts: Best for service work. Clear floor or floor plate designs.
  • 4-Post Lifts: Best for storage. Drive-on convenience.
  • Scissor Lifts: Low-profile. Ideal for tire, brake and exhaust work.
  • Alignment Lifts: 4-post with rolling jacks and slip plates.

3. Check Certifications

ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) certified lifts meet strict safety standards. Recommended for commercial and professional use.

4. Budget and Financing

Prices range from €1,800 for entry-level 2-post lifts to €6,000+ for heavy-duty commercial lifts. 0% financing is available on qualifying orders.
