Ten Inches of Lift on a 10.8 Degree Climb: the Race Ramps XT

Every ramp is a trade between how high it lifts and how steeply it climbs. Go higher and the angle gets worse, until the nose of the car hits the ramp before the tire does. Most makers solve it by lifting less.

The XT solves it with length. At 67 inches it reaches a full 10″ of lift while holding the incline to 10.8 degrees, which Race Ramps builds specifically for low profile and lowered cars. Ten inches is more than most two post lift owners get before the arms are under the car.

The deck is 14″ wide and takes tires up to 12″, so this handles modern performance rubber rather than just narrow stock tires. Each ramp carries 1,500 lbs, 6,000 lbs across the pair, and weighs 17 lbs.

Choose one piece or two piece. Sold as a pair. If your car is lower still, the 72″ two stage ramps open at 6.8 degrees. Browse all low profile car ramps.

Benefits of the Race Ramps XT

The most lift on the gentlest climb
Ten inches of lift at 10.8 degrees is the combination that makes the XT worth its price. Reaching that height on a shorter ramp means a steeper face, and a steeper face is what a lowered car cannot climb.
Room to actually work
Ten inches gets a creeper and your shoulders under the front of the car. This is the difference between a ramp you use for oil changes and one you use for exhaust work, underbody inspection and detailing.
Wide enough for real tires
A 14 inch deck taking tires up to 12 inches, against the 8 inch limit on the smaller ramps in the range. Staggered setups and wide front rubber sit properly on the surface rather than hanging over an edge.
17 lbs, not 70
A steel ramp of this size and rating is a two hand lift and a stubbed toe waiting to happen. These carry the same 1,500 lbs each and store on end in a corner.
The two piece frees up the side
Once the car is up and stable, the rear section of the two piece version lifts away. That clears the space alongside the wheel, which matters when you are working at the front corner rather than straight underneath.
Grips, and leaves no mark
Traction coated foam holds on epoxy and sealed concrete instead of skating forward under load, and there is no steel to rust a ring into the floor. Made in the USA with a one year warranty.

One Piece or Two Piece

Both give the same 10 inches of lift, the same 10.8 degree approach, and the same 1,500 lb rating. The question is whether you want the back half to come off.

• One Piece, RR-XT: A single 67 inch ramp. Nothing to align and nothing to store separately. The straightforward choice if you only need to get the car up.

• Two Piece, RR-XT-2: The incline section separates once the car is parked on the top block, so you can pull the long ramp out of the way and work at the side of the wheel. Worth the difference if you spend time at the front corners of the car.

Both versions also store more easily in two pieces, which is worth remembering in a tight garage.

Race Ramps XT Frequently Asked Questions

Will my lowered car clear it?

10.8 degrees is one of the gentlest inclines Race Ramps makes and it is designed for low profile and lowered cars. If you are on coilovers at the bump stops or running a big splitter, the 72″ two stage opens at 6.8 degrees and is the safer bet.

Do I need the two piece?

Only if you want the incline out of the way once the car is up. It changes nothing about the lift height, angle or capacity. Most people working purely underneath the car are fine with the one piece and save the difference.

How much space do they need?

Each ramp is 67 inches long, so allow around six feet in front of the car plus room to drive up. In a standard garage that usually means pulling the car back before you start. Store them on end against a wall.

Can I get under the car on these?

Ten inches gives real working room and the ramps are rated to 1,500 lbs each. As with any ramp, chock the wheels still on the ground, leave it in park with the parking brake on, and use stands as well if you are going fully underneath for an extended job.

How does the XT compare to the 40 inch ramps?

The RR-40 gives 7 inches of lift at 16.7 degrees for tires to 8 inches. The XT gives 10 inches at 10.8 degrees for tires to 12 inches. The XT is the serious option, the RR-40 is the compact one.
